I remember now, with happiness the experience lived in Vama, in VSLO event. I deal more with photo manipulations, or collages, as they say. And I was pleasantly surprised when I was contacted by Mr. Catalin to be one of those invited to that festival, because in Romania photo manipulations are not so much fashionable, and even more so, I was invited as a lecturer.
A WACOM tablet was given to me, and I was supposed to hold a real-time photo manipulation workshop. The greater the joy, because the way of working on a tablet is more intuitive than with the classic mouse. Before I was invited to VSLO, I had not participated in such an event, and by Vama Veche I just heard from the stories, but I was never in Vama.
From the first day I arrived, I can say it was love at first sight, it seemed to me the best place for such an event, I felt like I was in a special place, where for me was a gold mine. At every step, I could find a subject to photograph, manipulate. I was also surprised by the continued fortitude, and those invited to the VSLO were making the place even more beautiful. Everywhere there was someone who either was trying to do a photo, or to record, or to do a documentary, they were moving, and that I liked very much. I felt you could not be bored. During the VSLO event, I participated as much as possible at the other events, where both Romanian and foreign guests were invited, especially brought to share as many ideas, experiences and types of work.
I remember that you could not get bored for a whole day in Vama, because there was always something organized, if it was not a photo, it was a video, if it was none, it was something on the screen, or groups that you could easily talk about soul matters. In the evening we went to beer more for the sake of the atmosphere, I enjoyed watching, listening. They were very many people passionate about photography / videography.
Nu imi ramane decat sa le multumesc inca o dat celor de la VSLO, pentru invitatie si suportul lor, pentru mine a fost o experienta de care imi voi aduce aminte toata viata.
About the VSLO center I have only words of praise, nothing was missing, equipment, working graphics points, tablets one more high tech then the other. I loved coming every morning to have a cup of coffee and stare, it was a very nice state of unrest, I enjoyed watching that show in real time.
About the accommodation it was just fine, it was right on the beach, for me a real advantage, I could take photos, more timelaps, whatever interested me. I was very well received, I could say to all those who organized VSLO, it was a unique experience and I say that with a hand on my heart that at the end I was crying, that I lived something that only in Vama you could feel.
All it is left to do now is to thank once again VSLO for their invitation and support, for me it has been an experience that I will remember all my life.
